Changing Your Thoughts Is The Only Way To Change Your Reality.

Beyond that is a reality outside of ourselves. But we don’t actually interact with that. Because the only reality we really experience is a simulation that our brains create. They do this through our thoughts that may or may not be closely aligned with the reality outside ourselves. So to change your reality you have to change your thoughts.

The less biased your thoughts are, the closer you are in theory to the truth. The problem occurs when you’ve learned generalizations, prejudices, and black-and-white thinking. For this removes you from what is real. Thinking is like breathing: we do it without realizing it. But you shouldn’t believe everything you think. Some say that in fact only about twenty percent of our thoughts become reality.

We are human beings. So we have thoughts. But they don’t always match the reality of the time or the situation. We call this distorted or irrational thoughts. They are ideas that pop into your head and stop you from seeing how things really are. Usually they make you make mistakes. That has a huge and very direct influence on your emotions.

It is your interpretations of reality rather than reality itself that make you an emotionally stable or unstable person. What you think about yourself and your experiences is what really underlies problems with anxiety and depression.

In the developed world, these conditions are extremely common. But two people in the same situation can experience it and yet understand it differently. This is proof that when it comes down to it, your thoughts create reality.

If you want to change yourself, you have to change your mind

The basis of many psychological theories is to replace irrational thoughts with other kinds of thoughts that are closer to the real facts. So the key is that you learn how to change your thoughts from irrational to rational. People who are able to change their ways of thinking can gain much more control over their emotions. They can also make better decisions.

D iscussiëren is one of the most common clinical techniques to change a maladaptive way of thinking. Here they show the patient how to change his beliefs. They question those ideas based on their reasonableness until the patient is able to propose an alternative, more adapted way of thinking. The ultimate goal is that the patient can replace or polish his thoughts without help.

Even if circumstances are difficult, such as losing your job or after a breakup, thinking about them won’t improve them. Your space to take action has more to do with taking control of your thoughts than with mastering reality.

How can you change your thoughts so that they are healthy and rational?

It is not the events that cause emotional and behavioral problems. Rather, they are a result of the beliefs that form the basis of our interpretation of the problems. There is one basic way you can change your mind. You have to distinguish between rational and irrational thoughts.

Woman thinks with hand on head

To think in a rational way means to think in relative terms. So this means expressing yourself in terms of wishes and desires (I would like, I would rather, I wish…). When a person has a healthy mindset, the negative feelings that arise as a result of the situation do not stop them from pursuing what they want. They keep going even if they don’t get what they want.

On the other hand, you will express yourself in terms of obligation, need or requirement (I must, I should, I am obliged), if you have a rigid dogmatic mindset.

If those things don’t happen, you will experience negative emotions (depression, guilt, anger, fear, fear). Those feelings interfere with your efforts to achieve your goals. In addition, they are also the cause of changes in behavior such as isolation, avoidance or flight behavior and use of certain substances. But you can change your mind and avoid getting into this situation.
