Why Belong When You’re Special
Society is governed by certain rules. Even if we don’t think they exist in our daily lives, they are more obvious than we think. We do want to belong.
Let’s imagine that society has developed a board game with instructions, rules and a few players, who are all of us. We can see that these rules are different around the world. What is ideal for one person is abominable for another, because he cannot express his individuality.
But there are people who do not follow these rules. We could say that the word ‘comfortable’ does not apply to them. They have a vision that may bring them disappointment and discomfort, but they are willing to take this risk to stay true to how they really feel about themselves, to live as the special people they are, and not to conform to the meet the demands of others.
Why belong if you don’t know if you want to?
You must have often felt lost in trying to define yourself. You want to belong or fit into a group, but it doesn’t feel right.
The reality is that we are all unique and special, and we can only belong if we bring out the truth that lurks within us. If we can’t do this, we will adapt to a society that may not fit our way of being.
Think if all the doubts that have caused turmoil in our minds are leading you to change or confirmation.
Because the suffering in our world caused by ourselves is not comparable to the terrible emptiness of living without knowing where you are going or what you really want. Why adapt to something that may give you security, but no pleasure?
Why reject depth to just stay on the surface
Think about the people who left a mark on you. There were probably innumerable contradictions, surprises, wise reflections and silences that accompanied it. They probably found you because you put them on. Special people do not meet by chance.
Maybe they were like a breath of fresh air, people with a special talent or authenticity among the people who never gave you anything. Perhaps they gave meaning to an afternoon, a walk, or an endless conversation.
If you’ve ever met this kind of person, the ball is in your court. You should try to be the person you would like to meet. Don’t subject yourself, don’t change. Although the world is absurd at times because kindness and talent are undervalued and looks and bad intentions are often rewarded.
You are a link in a chain that can enlighten and surprise everyone in your life. And at the same time, the people in your light will be a little happier, and radiate this.
Make sure that chain of little human favors doesn’t break because you think you’re wrong. We all have the right to make mistakes. What we cannot forgive ourselves is not trusting who we really are.
Why belong when you can be special?
Each of us is born with a gift, and it is unforgivable not to develop this gift. It’s not important to be better than anyone else. It’s about developing your ability to grow from within and being able to pass this gift on to others.
If you do this right, people will thank you. In a world where vulgarity and lack of knowledge is more common than it should be, seeing someone who has developed their talent in a full and effective way changes.
It is good for you to be aware of what is going on around you, both good and bad, and the problems and realities of others. But what is happening in your own life? That’s what you have to ask yourself.
Why do you immerse yourself in thoughts and doubts, in your fears and disappointments, so that your life passes you by without you participating in it? Maybe it’s because of hesitation, because you’re tired of seeing things around you that don’t fill you with illusion…
We cannot judge these people, after all, who knows the deepest concerns of others? But if you give in to the disillusionment, this human chain of favors, of details or great possibilities will find no friend in you.
Don’t let the world disappoint you. If you think you’re special, why belong? Just be yourself. The world will thank you.
