Small friendly gestures that will brighten your day

When was the last time you did something that required little effort on your part, yet had a huge impact on someone else? I’m sure you know what we mean when we talk about small friendly gestures. These are gestures that are not difficult for you, but are of the greatest significance to someone else.

All it takes is a few minutes of your time and the result is a smile on both your face and that of the person who received the kind gesture. And this smile lasts all day! Here are some small friendly gestures that are sure to inspire you every day.

1. Create a special holiday for someone important to you

You should not limit yourself to Christmas or Mother’s Day to celebrate with your loved ones. One of the small kind gestures that will brighten up your day is creating a special day for someone else. How about ‘Eating Ice Cream With Your Family Day All Day’? Because something is celebrated, there will be a stronger unity among the people who are celebrating and in time the day will make for great memories.

We will of course continue to celebrate the traditional holidays, but you do not have to wait for these days that have been determined by others to celebrate something with your loved ones. Why not create your own special moments?

2. Spend a day with a loved one you don’t see often

When was the last time you saw your grandfather? As time goes by, we see that our agenda is actually full of obligations that keep us away from the people we love most. Another small gesture of kindness that will turn your day into a great day is paying a visit to your loved ones. It may not be of the utmost significance to you to spend the evening with your mother or that friend you haven’t seen in years, but it may be very special to them.

Simply stopping by someone you haven’t seen in a long time to say hello shows that you care. I’m sure you’d love it too if someone surprised you and showed you care.

3. Look for an opportunity to praise someone

I’m not talking about praising your kid or telling your boss how good he is. We do these two things often enough. Therefore, as a gesture of kindness, praise someone to whom you normally pay little attention.  It will change your day. When was the last time you stopped to think about the person who cleans your office and thank him for the work he does?

We take many things for granted, such as the work and effort of others. We overlook the people around us. You might just walk past them without realizing they are there. They’re like ghosts to you. Take a moment today to really see these people and praise them for the work they do. A thank you or a smile can brighten their whole day.

4. Listen to someone who needs to talk

How many times have you needed someone to listen to you, but there was no one to turn to? You know this is something that hurts a lot. And so you also know that it is a very kind gesture to listen to someone who needs this. Knowing that you were able to help this person and may have given them a reason not to lose hope will undoubtedly make you feel good.

But such a gesture goes beyond your feelings. Remember to be there for the people who need you and someone will be there for you in the future. It is not always easy to stop and listen to someone else. People prefer to talk rather than listen, but the latter can be a lot more rewarding than you think.

Small gestures say a lot

These little gestures brighten up your day because you are able to see beyond the ordinary and beyond yourself. In addition, they are so simple that you will certainly see opportunities every day to perform them and experience the joy that this brings for a long time. Which of these gestures is your favorite? Have you done anything similar lately?
